A
little fella with a tic
by Melissa R. Schwartz
A twitch of your head to see all around.
A cute little bounce and you’re off the ground.
A snort and a sniff for smells all around.
A shout to let us know you’re around.
A whistle to sing a lovely song.
A click and a clack and you can’t go wrong.
A snap to keep the beat going strong.
A stretch of your neck seems to make you long.
A touch for comfort wherever you go.
A tongue twist makes all the pictures glow.
A yelp and an oink and off you go.
A darling indeed, my son you know.
“This poem was written not only for my son, but for all
children coping with Tourette’s syndrome,” writes
the author. “Initially, we thought those little tics were
a nuisance, but now we see a brighter side to some of life’s
little quirks.”
