TO THE EDITOR

I just finished reading the current issue of Reflections on Nursing Leadership (First Qtr. 2006) and want to thank you for the outstanding articles. Every one of them was insightful and worth reading.

Joanne Balthazor, RN, BSN

Lovely article out of Turkey (First Qtr. 2006). Lousy blurb to introduce it. While the first hostilities took place in the Turkish province of Roumania, the major objective was the Crimean Peninsula (thus, Crimean War), which was Russian territory, and that’s where the major battles occurred (Alma, Balaclava, etc.). From your blurb about where the battles were fought, I expected an article about Russian nursing. Duh.

Sharon Jacques, RN, PhD
Candler, N.C.

Editor’s note: My sincere apologies to the writer and anyone else who, on the basis of teaser copy published in an e-mail announcement of the First Quarter issue, may have expected an article about Russian nursing. The bait-and-switch was unintentional. The offending text read as follows: “We frequently read about Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War. In what present-day country was much of the Crimean War fought? Learn more about the history of nursing in that country.” By clicking on the link provided, readers were directed to an article titled “A brief history of Turkish nursing.

Thanks again for publication of my article, “One patient at a time” (Fourth Qtr. 2005 issue). It was such a joy to see it online and then receive the hard copy. I truly enjoy what I do, but sometimes I feel so “alone” out here, so that publication made me feel like I had a huge team of nurses behind me!
