Paver campaign more than halfway to goal
The Brick Paver Campaign for Nursing Excellence has raised
more than $1.2 million of its $2 million goal. Your contributions
make a difference. “I contributed to the brick paver campaign,”
says Kathlyn Sue Haddock, RN, PhD, CNAA-BC, chair of the Regional
Chapters Coordinating Committee, “to support research conducted
by members that will benefit the health of our worldwide community.”

at headquarters this past November, Pat Gorzka, Janet Dubois
and Deborah Danforth point to the paver donated by their
chapter, Delta Beta-at-Large.

Contributions help achieve president’s call to
action
Each year, the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International
receives 60 to 100 applications for small research grants from
nurse researchers but is able to fund fewer than a dozen. In 2004,
the foundation was unable to fund important research on postpartum
depression, family health, aging, adult health, chronic illness,
HIV and child/adolescent health.
In her call to action, President Carol Picard challenged honor
society members to increase research grant funding by 25 percent.
You can help the honor society meet this goal and fulfill its
mission to advance nursing practice worldwide by contributing
an engraved brick paver or garden element, acknowledged with a
plaque, to the Paver Garden. The Paver Garden is located on the
south side of the headquarters building in Indianapolis, Ind.
Contributions help Hurricane Katrina victims
A Hurricane Katrina fund was established by Sigma Theta Tau International
Foundation for Nursing to help honor society members and candidates
for membership who reside in Gulf Coast areas affected by the
hurricane. Your contributions to the Paver Garden, designated
to the Hurricane Fund, will provide much-needed assistance to
these people in the coming year.
Celebrate in September!
Pavers contributed between now and July 15, 2006, will be installed
in August and dedicated on Sept. 19 during Chapter Leader Academy
in Indianapolis, Ind. Chapter leaders participating in the academy
will have the opportunity to take part in a special paver celebration
at headquarters. Contributing chapters will also be recognized
in print and on the honor society’s Web site.
