AWARDS & RECOGNITIONNew regional recognition program launched
“The Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee is excited about this new opportunity to showcase all of our regional successes,” says K. Sue Haddock, chair of the Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee. “It is our hope that chapters will share with us their outstanding programs, events and initiatives, no matter how big or small. The idea is to allow chapters to celebrate the wonderful contributions they bring to the honor society and build relationships that enhance the regional experience for all.” Qualifying criteria for the Showcase of Regional Excellence are simple and easier to fulfill than those of the Pinnacle Awards. There are no award categories or entry fees, and supporting materials are not required. A brief summary of the success achieved by a chapter or consortium is required, however, and should represent innovative and cutting-edge work reflective of one or more of the honor society’s five strategic directions. Work must have occurred between Jan. 1, 2005, and July 1, 2006, and all submissions must be received by July 1, 2006. Click here for submission forms. For more information, phone +1.317.634.8171, 1.888.634.7575 (U.S./Canada toll free), or e-mail awards@stti.iupui.edu. Interested in nominating someone for a 2007 International Award? Criteria and submission guidelines for awards in media, chapter, research, technology and other categories will be available in November 2006. The call for entries opens Nov. 1, 2006. As
a result of the current focus of the Honor Society of Nursing,
Sigma Theta Tau International on five strategic directions—knowledge,
leadership, service, communities and sustainability—a new
member recognition program has been launched. Showcase of Regional
Excellence, which replaces the former Pinnacle Awards, is designed
to encourage chapters and consortia to share outstanding accomplishments
with their regions via a simplified submission process on regional
pages of the honor society’s Web site. All successes will
be celebrated with a regional recognition event at the 2006 Chapter
Leader Academy, held Sept. 28-30 in Indianapolis, Ind.
